A tragic road accident in Baraigram upazila of Natore has claimed the lives of eight people after a truck collided head-on with a microbus. Two more victims passed away later in the hospital, raising the death toll from six to eight.
The Crash Happened on the Highway
The accident occurred at around 10 AM on Wednesday (July 23) at the Airmari Bridge area on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway.

They Were Traveling to Visit a Patient
According to police and eyewitnesses, the victims were from Dharamdah area of Daulatpur in Kushtia district. They were on their way to Sirajganj in a microbus to visit a patient. When they reached the Airmari Bridge area, a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle.
Five Died on the Spot
Five people, including four women, died on the spot after the collision. Others in the microbus were seriously injured.
More Died Later at Hospital
Three injured passengers were taken to Baraigram Upazila Health Complex. One of them died there, while the remaining two were referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). Sadly, both of them died during treatment around 3 PM.
Police Statement
Ismail Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bonpara Highway Police Station, confirmed the deaths.
“Six bodies are currently kept at our station. After completing legal procedures, they will be handed over to the families,”
he said.
