Tribunal Orders Sheikh Hasina to Surrender
The International Crimes Tribunal has issued a public notice asking former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to surrender within 7 days. If they fail to do so, the trial will continue in their absence.
Notice Published in Newspapers
On Tuesday, June 17, the tribunal registrar issued the notice, which was published in national newspapers. This action follows the tribunal’s earlier instruction, on Monday, to publish the notice in two newspapers.

War Crimes Case Over 2024 Mass Killings
This case is linked to alleged crimes against humanity committed during mass killings in July and August of last year (2024). The tribunal accepted five charges against three people, including Sheikh Hasina, on June 1, 2025.
The three accused are:
- Sheikh Hasina, former Prime Minister
- Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Home Minister
- Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former Inspector General of Police (IGP)
Arrest Warrants Already Issued
The tribunal had already issued fresh arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal earlier this month.
Next Hearing on June 24
The next court hearing is scheduled for June 24. On that day, one of the accused, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, was present in court. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam led the prosecution side.
Charges Read in Court
On June 1, the charges against all three were officially read out in court by Chief Prosecutor Tazul Islam, along with prosecutors Abdus Sobhan Tarafder and Mizanul Islam. The charges were also shared with the media.
Investigation Report Blames Hasina
Earlier, on May 12, investigators submitted a report accusing Sheikh Hasina of ordering the mass killings. Based on that investigation, formal charges were filed in the tribunal, naming her as the main accused in crimes against humanity.
