Turkey Unveils ‘Tayfun Block-4’ at IDEF: A Hypersonic Defense Breakthrough

Tayfun Block-4

In a landmark move signaling technological maturity and strategic ambition, Turkey has successfully unveiled its indigenous hypersonic ballistic missile, the ‘Tayfun Block-4,’ on the inaugural day of the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025 in Istanbul.

According to a report published by Turkiye Today, the state-of-the-art missile was introduced with great pride by Turkey’s leading defense technology firm, Roketsan.

Tayfun Block-4: Power in Precision and Speed

The new missile weighs 2,300 kg, measures 6.5 meters in length, and has a range of up to 800 kilometers. What sets the Tayfun Block-4 apart is its high velocity, advanced trajectory control, and multi-role warhead capabilities.

In a press statement, Roketsan declared:

“The Tayfun Block-4 has set a new long-range record. With a warhead exceeding 7 tons in total weight, it can obliterate key military infrastructures including air defense systems, hangars, and command centers from long distances within seconds.”

This leap marks not only a major stride in missile technology but also a milestone in Turkey’s vision of strategic self-reliance.

A Defining Moment for Turkish Defense Sovereignty

At the IDEF 2025 opening ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a powerful message:

“Today, we are not just witnessing the rise of defense technologies—we are witnessing the rise of a nation’s independence. Turkey is learning to soar under its own wings, in its own skies.”

He emphasized that Turkey has transcended diplomatic constraints, blockades, and international bias, securing its rightful place in the global defense market through determination and innovation.
