Two people, including the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dacope Upazila in Khulna, lost their lives in a tragic road accident on their way to join the party’s national rally in Dhaka. The accident took place in Bhanga, Faridpur, on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway early Friday night, around 3:00 AM.
Bus Hit from Behind by Multiple Vehicles
According to police, a bus carrying Jamaat activists and supporters from Khulna was heading toward the historic Suhrawardy Udyan for the rally. As the bus slowed down near the entry point of the expressway in Bhanga, two other buses and a pickup van crashed into it from behind.

Death of Jamaat Leader Confirmed at Scene
Muhammad Abu Said, the Jamaat Ameer of Dacope upazila, died on the spot. Another activist, who was critically injured, passed away at the hospital while receiving treatment.
“ঘটনাস্থলেই মুহাম্মদ আবু সাইদ প্রাণ হারান।”
“Muhammad Abu Said died at the scene,” said a police officer present during the rescue.
At Least 10 Others Injured, Some in Critical Condition
Ten others were injured in the crash, many of whom were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Doctors reported that several of the injured are in critical condition.
Separate Collision in Bhanga Kills One More
In a separate accident in the Nasirabad area of Bhanga, a head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws resulted in the death of one person.
“আমরা ঢাকায় সমাবেশে যোগ দিতে যাচ্ছিলাম। হঠাৎই বাসের পেছনে বিকট শব্দ। কিছু বুঝে ওঠার আগেই অনেকে ছিটকে পড়ে যান।”
“We were on our way to join the rally in Dhaka. Suddenly, there was a loud noise at the back of the bus. Before we understood what happened, people had already fallen out,” said one of the injured activists.
Authorities are investigating both incidents. The Jamaat-e-Islami rally at Suhrawardy Udyan was a major event, drawing supporters from across the country.
