Taskin Ahmed created one of the most outstanding bowling performance in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), leaving his mark on the tournament’s history.
The bowler, who was playing for Rajshahi, put on an incredible display against the Dhaka Capitals, scoring 4-0-19-7. Taskin’s genius overpowered all else, even though Dhaka scored an outstanding total of more than 170 runs. His seven-wicket haul, which he took while giving up only 19 runs, is now the finest bowling performance in BPL history. The previous record of 6 wickets for 17 runs, achieved by Mohammad Amir of Pakistan, was surpassed with this achievement.
Taskin’s success is not only a national record; it is also regarded as one of the best bowling performances in T20 cricket worldwide. His record of 4-0-19-7 is the third-best in T20 history. With a 4-0-8-7 run against China on July 26, 2023, Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus tops the rankings, while Leicestershire’s CN Ackermann comes in second with a 7 for 18 performance against the Birmingham Bears in 2019.
Taskin and Rajshahi’s fans will never forget this incredible effort, which was his second five-wicket haul in the format. After just five deliveries, Litton Das was taken off guard by Yasir Ali Rabi, setting the tone early. Soon after, Taskin shook Dhaka’s batting order with an intense removal of Tanzid Hasan Tamim. Rajshahi’s hold on the game was further cemented when Taskin put an end to Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s heroic struggle, despite his tough 50 off 40 balls.
Taskin’s onslaught went on as he easily destroyed the lower tier, dismissing Alauddin Babu, Mukidul Islam, and Chaturanga de Silva in short succession. Dhaka was left reeling by his relentless speed and accuracy, which solidified his place among the league’s best bowlers.
