USAID Cuts Funding: Thousands Lose Jobs in Bangladesh

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) made an immediate budget reduction which forced thousands of Bangladeshi development professionals to become unemployed. Organizations in Bangladesh face a significant workforce and service user crisis because USAID canceled 100 important development projects focused on health, labor rights and livelihood programs. Many workers face severe difficulties because the budget reduction makes employment search increasingly challenging.

Experts indicate that Bangladesh depends excessively on foreign support yet needs to reach independence in development initiatives. National government institutions together with NGOs make efforts to understand what effect these recent changes will have on the future of the country. People anticipate that putting a stop to these projects will create serious outputs in crucial social and economic development. Workplace uncertainty presents thousands of employees with an unknown professional path ahead.
