National Mosque Baitul Mukarram’s Khatib, Maulana Abdul Malek, has strongly criticized the use of students in politics. He called it “zulm” (oppression) and said that political parties, including Islamic ones, are unfairly exploiting students. He also described teaching science and knowledge in un-Islamic ways as a “huge zulm” that must be stopped.
Students Should Not Be Used in Politics
At a seminar organized by Insaf Foundation at Krishibid Institute Auditorium in Dhaka’s Farmgate, Maulana Abdul Malek expressed deep concern over student involvement in political activities.
He said,
“It may sound surprising to you, but using students in politics is oppression against them. College and university students are used in political activities, and this is unfair. Every political party has a student wing, and they use school, college, and university students. This is oppression against the students. Even Islamic parties are using students in politics. This is injustice. This too is oppression against them.”
He clearly mentioned that all political parties, even Islamic ones, are guilty of dragging students into politics, which is unjust and harmful for them.
Teaching Science in an Un-Islamic Way Is “Huge Zulm”
Maulana Abdul Malek also raised concerns about how knowledge and science are taught in Muslim countries.
He said,
“Teaching worldly knowledge and science in an atheistic and un-Islamic way in a Muslim country is huge oppression. It is severe oppression. Students must be protected from this oppression.”
According to him, teaching science through atheistic or un-Islamic methods is a serious injustice that can misguide students.
Call to Protect Students
The Khatib stressed that students must be protected both from being used as political tools and from receiving education in ways that go against Islamic values. He emphasized the urgent need to block the path of student politics inside schools, colleges, and universities.
