Candidate Wants to Celebrate the Election

VP Candidate AbidulbIslam Khan, Vice President (VP) candidate from the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) panel, said he wants to enjoy the election day rather than focus on complaints.

Speaking to journalists in front of the Curzon Hall polling centre at Dhaka University on Tuesday (9 September) around 10:00 am, he stated:

“ভোটটা উদযাপন করতে চাই। অভিযোগ করতে চাই না।”

Translation: “I want to celebrate the election. I don’t want to make complaints.”

Entry into Polling Center

When asked about allegations that he broke rules to enter a polling centre, Abidul defended his action.

He said:

“রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তার অনুমতি নিয়েই ঢুকেছি।”

Translation: “I entered with the permission of the Returning Officer.”

Allegation of Breaking Rules

Earlier, accusations were raised that Abidul entered the polling centre at the Physical Education Center of Dhaka University without following proper rules.

VP Candidate Abidul countered these claims by saying the university did not issue official entry cards for candidates. As a result, he faced difficulties entering some polling centres, including a girls’ hall centre.

He explained:

“প্রার্থীদের জন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কোনো কার্ড করেনি। সে কারণে তাঁকে মেয়েদের হলের ভোট কেন্দ্রে প্রবেশ করতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না।”

Translation: “The university did not issue any cards for candidates. For this reason, I was not allowed to enter the girls’ hall polling centre.”
