BNP’s Initial Reaction
BNP has welcomed the announcement of the 13th National Election roadmap, expressing optimism that the country is moving closer to polls.
Speaking to bdnews24.com on Thursday evening, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the roadmap clearly shows that the Election Commission (EC) is preparing to hold the polls by February.
Mirza Fakhrul stated:
“রোডম্যাপ ঘোষণা হয়েছে। আমরা এতে আশাবাদী হয়েছি। এ রোডম্যাপ থেকে বোঝা যায় যে, নির্বাচন কমিশন ফেব্রুয়ারিতেই নির্বাচন করার জন্য প্রস্তুতি গ্রহণ করেছে।”
Translation: “The roadmap has been announced. We have become hopeful. From this roadmap, it is clear that the Election Commission is preparing to hold the election by February.”
Fakhrul further added with a smile:
“মূল কথা হচ্ছে যে, আমরা খুশি, উই আর হ্যাপি।”
Translation: “The main thing is, we are happy, we are happy.”

Election Commission’s Roadmap
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, Election Commission Secretary Akhter Ahmed officially announced the roadmap for the 13th National Election.
The day before, the commission led by A M M Nasir Uddin had approved the plan. The roadmap outlines more than two dozen tasks, including:

Holding dialogues with political parties and stakeholders in the last week of September.

Arranging meetings, briefings, and training programs.

Printing election materials and allocating budgets.

Preparing IT-based facilities and promotional campaigns.

Setting up coordination cells and inter-ministerial meetings.
This comprehensive plan aims to ensure smooth election preparations.
Amir Khosru Sees It as “Good News”
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury also welcomed the roadmap, calling it a positive sign for the country.
At an event in Banani, Dhaka, he said:
“রোডম্যাপ আজ এসেছে… এটা সুসংবাদ। আপনাদের সঙ্গে আমি শেয়ার করছি, আমাকে টেক্সট পাঠিয়েছে, আমি দেখলাম, ইলেকশনের রোডম্যাপ।”
Translation: “The roadmap has come today… this is good news. I am sharing it with you, someone texted me, and I saw the election roadmap.”
He emphasized that the nation is now becoming election-oriented and waiting for an elected and accountable government.
“মানুষ এখন নির্বাচনমুখী হয়ে যাচ্ছে এবং সবাই অপেক্ষা করছে দেশে একটা নির্বাচন হোক। এর মাধ্যমে দেশে একটা নির্বাচিত সরকার আসবে, সংসদ প্রতিষ্ঠা হবে, যে সরকার বা সংসদ জনগণের কাছে দায়বদ্ধ থাকবে, জবাবদিহি থাকবে।”
Translation: “People are now becoming election-focused, and everyone is waiting for an election to be held. Through this, an elected government and parliament will be established, which will be accountable to the people.”
Hopes for Economic Revival
Amir Khosru also said that people are waiting to take decisions about the future, which they had postponed due to political uncertainty.
“আমি বলতে চাই, জনগণ তাদের সিদ্ধান্ত, যেগুলো এখন স্থগিত রাখছে, সব সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে শুরু করেছে, আমি এরই মধ্যে তা অনুভব করছি।”
Translation: “I want to say that people are starting to make decisions that they had kept on hold, and I can already feel it.”
He added that once the election takes place, the economy will recover, and the country will move towards new opportunities.
“নির্বাচনের পরে আমাদের অর্থনীতি ঘুরে দাঁড়াবে, গুড স্কিল ডেভেলপমেন্ট হবে ইনশাআল্লাহ।”
Translation: “After the election, our economy will recover, and good skill development will take place, Insha’Allah.”
