Hasanat Abdullah Speaks to Locals During NCP Campaign
Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the southern region, said that contesting the MP election itself is a big achievement for him because he comes from a simple background as the son of a mason.
Proud to Represent Working-Class People
He told the crowd that many people say he will get only 500 votes, but even that is a big matter for a new party only nine months old and without any powerful family background. Hasnat Abdullah said,
Translation: “I hear from people that I will get only 500 votes! For a new nine-month-old party without family background, even 500 votes would be a big thing… Being a mason’s son and still contesting the MP election is already a lot.”
He added that he has no big family status, no wealth, and did not study abroad — he rose from the people themselves.

“Asking for Votes Is Better Than Extortion”
At the NCP mass communication and campaign programs in Bhani and Sultanpur unions of Debidwar, he said:
Translation: “Begging for votes is much better than extortion… Please give us one or two votes as charity.”
He said earning money by selling drugs or controlling markets is worse than humbly seeking votes from people.
Comments on Last Year’s Road Blockade
He also commented on last year’s incident of road blockade:
Translation: “Those who blocked this road last July were all wearing shorts… We do not know where the people wearing traditional trousers were at that time.”
He said the people in shorts were the ones who got shot and became martyrs.
Calls for Peace and Unity
Hasnat Abdullah urged the people to avoid conflict and remain calm. He said,
Translation: “If someone throws stones at us, we will welcome them with flowers… The rest is in Allah’s hands.”
He also said their election symbol is Shapla Koli, and they will accept whatever fortune Allah has written.
Campaign Activities Across Debidwar
As part of the campaign, Hasnat Abdullah visited several areas of Debidwar, including Khadghar, Suryapur, Saharpara, Phultoli, Noagaon, Saitla Bazar, Kurshap, and Atapur.
He conducted mass communication, met locals, and held roadside gatherings.
Visit to Home of July Martyr
During the program, he also visited the home of July martyr Kadir Hossain Sohag. He met Sohag’s mother and relatives to check on their well-being.
Leaders from the Debidwar unit of the National Citizens Party were also present.
