Renowned media personality and doctor, Abdun Noor Tushar, has raised a public question about Asif Mahmud Sajib, asking who accompanies him when he goes to Neela Market or The Westin to eat duck meat. Tushar made these remarks during a recent talk show, where he also criticized the way political parties defend certain advisers while avoiding responsibility in other cases.
Tushar Questions Asif Mahmud’s Statements
During a talk show appearance, Abdun Noor Tushar directly asked about Asif Mahmud Sajib’s statement regarding eating duck meat at Neela Market or The Westin.
Abdun Noor Tushar questioned whether Asif Mahmud really goes there alone.
Bangla: ‘আসিফ মাহমুদ সজীব ভাইয়া যে বলেছেন উনি ওয়েস্টিনে যান, উনি কি ওয়েস্টনে গিয়ে একা একা গিয়ে বসে থাকেন? ছবি খোঁজেন, তাহলে দেখবেন উনি একা ওখানে বসে থাকেন না। নীলা মার্কেটে নিশ্চয় উনি একা একা গিয়ে হাঁসের মাংস খোঁজেন না। তার সঙ্গে কারা থাকে? তারা কোন দলের নেতা কিংবা কোন রাজনৈতিক ব্যক্তি কিংবা কারা সেই সময় তার সঙ্গে থাকে? ফলে এই জিনিসগুলি মানুষ প্রশ্ন করবে।’
Translation: “Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhaiya said he goes to The Westin, but does he really go and sit there all alone? If you look for photos, you will see that he is not sitting alone there. Surely, he does not go to Neela Market alone to eat duck meat. Who goes with him? Are they party leaders, political figures, or others? People will naturally ask these questions.”
People Will Always Raise Questions
Abdun Noor Tushar mentioned that such statements naturally invite curiosity and questions from the public.
Bangla: “আপনি এইসব বলতে পারছেন মানুষ তো প্রশ্ন করবেই। আপনি সব বন্ধ করে দিলেও মানুষের মনের মধ্যে প্রশ্ন থাকবে। কেননা মানুষ তো আর নির্বোধ না। দায়িত্বশীল বক্তব্য আমরা সবসময় পাই না সবার কাছ থেকেও পাই না।”
Translation: “If you are making such statements, people will definitely ask questions. Even if you try to shut everything down, questions will remain in people’s minds. People are not foolish. We do not always get responsible statements, not from everyone.”

Speaking Responsibly Needs Training
Abdun Noor Tushar further emphasized that giving proper statements is a matter of training and learning.
Bangla: “কেননা বক্তব্য প্রদান করার বিষয়টিও কিন্তু প্রশিক্ষণের বিষয় এবং শেখার বিষয় আছে।”
Translation: “Because making public statements is also a matter of training and something that must be learned.”
Why Is NCP Defending an Adviser?
Tushar also criticized the NCP (Nationalist Civic Party) for defending a particular adviser, questioning the party’s logic behind this stance.
Bangla: “এনসিপি কি কারণে এই উপদেশটাকে প্রটেক্ট করতে গেল কিংবা উপদেশটাকে ডিফেন্ড করতে গেল? যেখানে তারা বলেছে যেই সরকারের মধ্যে তাদের নিজেদের কোন লোক নাই। তাহলে যদি নিজেদের লোক নাই থাকে এই একই এনসিপির একজন নেতা হাসনাত আব্দুল্লাহ একজন উপদেষ্টাকে বলেছেন বেতন ভাতা ফেরত দিয়ে তাকে চলে যেতে হবে। তিনি হচ্ছেন স্বাস্থ্য উপদেষ্টা তারা স্বাস্থ্য উপদেশকে ডিফেন্ড করে নাই।”
Translation: “Why did the NCP go to protect or defend this adviser when they themselves said they have no one inside the government? If they really have no one there, then why did NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah ask an adviser to return his salary and leave? That was the health adviser, and they did not defend him.”
Contradictions in Defending Accused Individuals
Abdun Noor Tushar further highlighted another case, criticizing how the party tried to defend someone by bringing in the wife of a caught extortionist.
Bangla “আর আরেকজনের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ ওঠার পরে তারা ধরা পড়া চাঁদাবাজের স্ত্রীকে জোগাড় করে নিয়ে এসেছেন প্রমাণ করার জন্য যে বউ জানে স্বামী ভালো। এইটা তো আসলে ঠিক না।”
Translation: “And after another person faced allegations, they brought the wife of a caught extortionist to prove that the wife knows her husband is good. This is actually not right.”
A Party Cannot Be Erased Just by Force
Talking about politics in Bangladesh, Abdun Noor Tushar explained that no party can be destroyed completely just by external pressure.
Bangla: “বাংলাদেশ তো ডি মুসলিম লিগিফিকেশন হয়েছে তাই না? মুসলিম লীগ তো নাই। এটা কিভাবে হয়েছে? এখানে কি এই বাঙালিরাই মুসলিম লীগ করে পাকিস্তান চেয়েছিল না? কিন্তু অতি দ্রুত তাদের স্বপ্নভঙ্গ হয়ে এটা তো হয় নাই। এবং নামের শেষে লীগ থাকার পরেও আওয়ামী লীগ জনপ্রিয় হয়েছে।”
Translation: “Bangladesh has undergone the de-Muslim League-ification, right? The Muslim League no longer exists. But how did this happen? Wasn’t it the Bengalis themselves who supported Muslim League and wanted Pakistan? Yet, their dream was quickly broken, and it did not last. And even though Awami League also has ‘League’ in its name, it became popular.”
The Power Lies with the Voters
Tushar concluded by saying that as long as voters continue to support a party, it cannot be erased.
Bangla: “এর কারণ হচ্ছে যে ভোটার যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত তার মন তুলে না নেবে ততক্ষণ পর্যন্ত আপনি একটা দলকে একেবারে নিশ্চিহ্ন করতে পারবেন না। যেমন এখনো পর্যন্ত ছোট ছোট ক্ষুদ্র দল টিকে আছে। উত্তরবঙ্গ দক্ষিণবঙ্গে। যারা কমিউনিজম চায়, সশস্ত্র কমিউনিজমের উপর বিশ্বাস করে। যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত মানুষের মন থেকে আপনি এই সমর্থনকে ঘুরাতে না পারবেন ততক্ষণ পর্যন্ত কিন্তু কোথাও না কোথাও তো এই দল বা দলীয় কর্মীরা থেকে যাবে।”
Translation: “The reason is, until the voters withdraw their support, you cannot completely erase a party. That is why even now small groups survive in North and South Bengal, people who want communism or believe in armed communism. Until you can change the minds of the people, these parties or their activists will continue to exist somewhere.”
