The deceased Babul Hossain (52) is a former member of Ward No. 6 of Kulla Union Parishad (UP) and is the son of deceased Idris Ali of Makhulia village. Monirul Islam, OC of Dhamrai Police Station, believes that the murder may have been due to a land dispute. Based on local residents and relatives of the deceased, Babul and his wife Yasmin Begum were threshing mustard on their land at Kushiara, half a kilometer away from their house, around 2 pm on Friday.At that time, some people from the same area surrounded him and attacked him with sharp weapons. One of his eyes was gouged out, and a leg vein was severed. At that time, when the wife screamed, the local people came forward, and the attackers ran away. He was rescued and taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, where doctors declared him dead.Local people said that there is a dispute over the land of Akshirnagar housing in the area. He changed his position for and against it.Babul used to work for BNP, but after this incident, this was denied by the party’s union committee president, Shahjahan Miya. Asif Hossain, the relative of the deceased, said that the wife begged for her husband’s life by holding the legs of the murderers. But the minds of the murderers did not melt. Saidur Rahman, the cousin of the deceased, said that because of previous enmity, Shaukat Ali, Monir, Rajib, Afsan, Anwar Hossain, Arshed, Sharif, and others from the same area hacked Babul Hossain to death. No one could say exactly what the enmity was about. Four months ago, the dead body of Babul Hossain’s father, Idris Ali, was found floating in the brackish water of the same area. Before this, he was missing for 11 days.
Nasir Uddin, a local, said that the attackers wanted to beat Babul’s children Eva and Yamin four to five days ago. He could not say exactly why he wanted to kill him.Monirul Islam, OC of Dhamrai police station, said that Babul had a dispute with Arshed over land. Arshed and his sons Sharif and Saikat killed him together.Multiple police teams are working to nab the accused. The body has been recovered from the hospital and is being sent for a post-mortem. Apart from this, the preparation of the case is going on at the police station.
