UAE Resumes Visit Visas for Bangladeshis Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially resumed issuing visit visas for Bangladeshi citizens, bringing a wave of relief and optimism for families, travelers, and professionals. The announcement was made on Sunday, May 4 during a meeting between UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi and Lutfor Siddique, Special Envoy to the Chief Adviser.

According to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s press wing the ambassador confirmed that UAE’s embassy in Dhaka is now issuing 30 to 50 visit visas daily, following months of diplomatic efforts between the two nations.

Ambassador Al Hamoudi stated that the resumption is a result of continuous diplomatic engagement and marks significant progress in bilateral cooperation. He also mentioned that group visa processing for business delegations has been accelerated and  supporting increased interaction in commerce and trade.

In a further boost to employment prospects the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources has reintroduced the online employment visa system for skilled workers, including professions such as hotel staff and marketing managers. Visas under these categories have already been issued, signaling renewed labor market access for Bangladeshi professionals.

The ambassador also highlighted that 500 security personnel visas have already been issued and an additional 1,000 visas have been approved for upcoming issuance.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al Hamoudi acknowledged Lutfor Siddique’s active role in facilitating ongoing discussions with the UAE government. Siddique, in turn, welcomed the progress and expressed gratitude to the ambassador and the UAE authorities.

Additionally, discussions on a potential Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries have begun. Both sides have agreed on the Terms of Reference, laying the groundwork for deeper economic cooperation.

As a continuation of these engagements, a high-level UAE Cabinet delegation is expected to visit Bangladesh later this month, aiming to advance bilateral relations in trade, labor and strategic collaboration.

The reopening  of this and employment pathways marks a positive turning point for Bangladesh-UAE relations, offering new possibilities for travel, employment, and partnership.
