BCB President’s Confidence in Women’s Cricket
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul recently expressed his optimism about the future of women’s cricket in Bangladesh. Speaking at an event on Friday evening (October 24), he said,

In the ongoing World Cup, if we had avoided some small mistakes, we might have won five matches and been a team capable of playing in the semifinals. We are learning from our mistakes and we will not disappoint our fans.”
Performance in the Ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup
Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team, led by Nigar Sultana, has had a challenging run in the ongoing ODI World Cup. Currently, they sit at the bottom of the points table and have already been eliminated from semifinal contention.

However, points alone do not capture the team’s real progress. Despite being only in their second World Cup appearance, Bangladesh has shown remarkable performances.
-
The Tigers stunned Pakistan in their opening match.
-
They competed fiercely against powerhouse teams like South Africa and England.
-
The match against Sri Lanka was nearly a win, lost by a narrow margin.
Bulbul believes that if the team had converted these close matches into victories, a semifinal spot could have been within reach.

Vision for Overall Cricket Development in Bangladesh
Beyond immediate performance, BCB President Bulbul highlighted the broader goals of Bangladesh cricket. He said:
Translation:“Trust us. We will take Bangladesh cricket to such heights, Insha’Allah, that we can all feel proud of it. In Bangladesh, we will not just create talented cricketers, but through cricket, we will help nurture better citizens.”
This vision emphasizes both competitive success and the holistic development of players, fostering discipline, teamwork, and leadership in young athletes.
