Writ Petition Filed Seeking Section 144 Enforcement on Thirty-First Night

A writ petition has been filed in the High Court to prohibit the use of fireworks, crackers, and the release of sky decorations on rooftops of homes during New Year’s Eve (Thirty-First Night).
Supreme Court lawyer Ashraf Uzzaman filed the writ in the relevant branch of the High Court today, Monday.
In order to prevent public gatherings and fireworks, the petition requests a command to execute strict measures, including the execution of Section 144, from 10 PM to 1 AM on December 31. Ashraf Uzzaman stated that a High Court bench headed by Justice Md. Jahangir Hossain is anticipated to hear the petition.
Highlighting the details of the petition, Ashraf Uzzaman stated that it calls for a directive to ban any high-decibel events between 11 PM and 1 AM, as well as prohibiting fireworks, crackers, and sky lanterns on rooftops during the Thirty-First Night. Additionally, the writ seeks instructions to prevent public gatherings in streets, parks, and open spaces from 10 PM on December 31. The petition also demands a ban on the sale and purchase of fireworks, crackers, and sky lanterns on the same day.
The lawyer claims that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Home Ministry Secretary, and the DMP Commissioner have been included as respondents in the writ as well.
