Train movement on Dhaka’s electricity-powered high-speed public transport system, the metro rail, has been temporarily suspended after two youths climbed onto the roof of a metro train. MRT Line-6 Deputy Project Director (Public Relations), Md Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, confirmed the matter around 8:40 pm on Sunday (30 November).
He stated that train operations have been halted for the moment because two individuals climbed onto the roof of a metro train at the Bangladesh Secretariat Station. The metro rail authorities have expressed sincere regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to passengers.

However, he was unable to specify exactly from what time the train service had been suspended. In a press release issued by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), it was stated:
‘বাংলাদেশ সচিবালয় স্টেশনে মেট্রোরেলের ছাদের উপর দুই ব্যক্তি উঠে পড়ায় মেট্রোরেল চলাচল সাময়িক বন্ধ আছে। সাময়িক অসুবিধার জন্য মেট্রোরেল কর্তৃপক্ষ আন্তরিকভাবে দুঃখিত।’
Translation: “At the Bangladesh Secretariat Station, metro rail operations are temporarily suspended as two people climbed onto the roof of a metro train. The metro rail authorities sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience.”
This unexpected act by the two youths created a sudden disruption in metro rail operations. Authorities responded swiftly to ensure passenger safety and restore normal service. The incident highlights the urgent need for stronger awareness and tighter security around public transport systems.
