China to Build 64 Hospitals in Bangladesh: Boosting Healthcare Nationwide

To improve the quality and access to healthcare in Bangladesh, particularly in rural areas, a joint venture has been formed by China to construct 64 hospitals across the 64 districts of Bangladesh. The venture will result in the addition of 50,000 beds to the existing divisional cities and major towns districts. Despite being a challenge, healthcare infrastructure development will benefit millions.

Healthcare services offered at these hospitals will be state of the art economically suited for residents of Bangladesh. Furthermore, 70% of the employees will be recruited from Bangladesh boosting the economy and skilled job opportunities in healthcare administration, medical technology, and nursing. This project aims to build participation and ownership amongst the locals which in turn is likely to enhance great value for the healthcare delivery system.

To alleviate the stress on hospitals that are already overburdened, thousands of new beds will need to be added along with an increase in the number of personnel to make competition amongst healthcare practitioners, which will ultimately lead to better quality care. More so, this will ensure that even rural populations who have extremely low quality services will be able to avail the most basic of healthcare requirements.

Furthermore, specialists consider this as a comprehensive investment in the improvement of healthcare infrastructure in Bangladesh and are sure that it will solve many future healthcare concerns. This joint venture will enhance public health, but it will also generate economic development, engendering local employment and growth in other areas like construction, logistics, and medical supply.
