China to Build 64 Hospitals in Bangladesh: Boosting Healthcare Nationwide

China is launching a joint venture to build 64 hospitals in all 64 districts of Bangladesh, aiming to significantly improve healthcare access and quality across the country. This large-scale project will introduce 50,000 new beds in divisional cities and district towns, addressing the current shortages in medical facilities and making healthcare more accessible to millions of people.

The hospitals will provide advanced medical services in line with international standards, ensuring that healthcare is both high-quality and affordable for the local population. 70% of the workforce will be recruited from Bangladesh, offering new job opportunities, and fostering local skill development in areas such as healthcare management, medical technology, and nursing. This local involvement is also expected to improve the overall efficiency of the healthcare system.

This initiative is designed to ease the burden on existing hospitals, many of which are overcrowded and understaffed. By adding thousands of new beds and introducing more competition, the project will improve healthcare delivery and increase the availability of specialized medical treatments across the country. It will also bring essential services closer to rural communities that have historically had limited access to quality care.

Additionally, experts see this project as a long-term investment in Bangladesh’s healthcare infrastructure, helping the country to meet future healthcare needs. The joint venture will not only improve public health but also create economic opportunities, contributing to local job creation and stimulating growth in other related sectors such as construction, logistics, and medical supplies.
