Bangladesh government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan announced through Facebook that Abrar Fahad receives the Independence Award 2025 because he represents courage toward injustice as well as free thinking. Some BUET students fatally attacked Abrar Fahad with beatings during the night of October 6, 2019 because of their assumption about his political connections.
