Abrar Fahad Honored with Independence Award 2025

Abrar Fahad has been awarded the Independence Award 2025 in recognition of his bravery in standing up against injustice and his commitment to free thinking. The tragic death of Abrar Fahad in 2019 stunned the nation as protests spread across the country demonstrating the reality of educational violence. Today Abrar Fahad’s selfless act serves as a sign of opposition that motivates numerous people to take on the fight for truth combined with justice.

Bangladesh government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan announced through Facebook that Abrar Fahad receives the Independence Award 2025 because he represents courage toward injustice as well as free thinking. Some BUET students fatally attacked Abrar Fahad with beatings during the night of October 6, 2019 because of their assumption about his political connections. The tragic killing of Abrar Fahad activated nationwide protests that increased awareness regarding violent incidents within educational institutions. Through his tragic death Abrar gained recognition as someone who fought against violence and injustice that filled educational institutions across the nation. His dedication to both truth and justice has earned him this notable recognition. The highest civilian honor in Bangladesh stands as a permanent tribute to his sacrifice while continuing to promote the pursuit of justice.
