RAB has arrested former MP of Noakhali-4 constituency and former general secretary of district Awami League Ekramul Karim Chowdhury. He was arrested from Khulshi in Chittagong on Tuesday (October 1) night.
Ekramul Karim Chowdhury was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in the Ninth National Parliament Elections held on December 29, 2008. Before this, in the 2001 national election, Ekramul contested in Noakhali-5 seat as an independent candidate without getting Awami League ticket in Noakhali-4 seat and lost.
Ekramul Karim Chowdhury’s wife Kamrun Nahar Shiuli was the chairman of Noakhali’s Kabirhat subdistrict councillor His son Atahar Ishrak Shabab Chowdhury was elected chairman of Subarnachar subdistrict councillor a few days ago.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, cases are being filed across the country against those involved in the attack on anti-discrimination students. Accused are being arrested in these cases every day.
