In a strategic initiative to assist people during the Harsh Winters, the government of Bangladesh has sanctioned over Tk33.87 crore from the Ministry of Disaster Management and relief to purchase snow blankets which would be given to the needy and affected across different parts of the country.
As per an official press release issued on 3 January, the massive allocation is intended to enable the administration to render timely assistance to people who are suffering from extreme weather conditions. The ministry also directed upazila nirbahi officers to follow all financial guidelines while hastening the acquisition and distribution of warmer clothing.
Banquet allocation highlights in the past few weeks: Apart from the current initiative, around 6,79,000 blankets procured through the chief adviser’s relief fund blankets have already been dispensed across the country. Apart From this, the ministry allocated 15,250 blankets early in the winter to destitute areas in 14 districts in the northern part of the country where the cold was excessive.
Close super vision guaranteed: In order to avoid wastage and abuse of funds meant for the procurement of warmer clothing, an effective supervision of the entire blanket procurement and dispersal operation has been given to deputy commissioners, ensuring that no corners are cut. This strategy reflects the commitment of the government to addressing the need of the citizens during this harsh season.
